Senior citizens and PWDs are entitled to a statutory discount on restaurant bills in the Philippines. This is a short, factual note rather than a pitch — computing it correctly is a compliance basic every restaurant needs, not something worth selling as a feature.
It applies to a share, not the whole bill
The discount covers the eligible diner's own portion of a shared bill, not the full table — a party of four with one qualifying senior gets the discount applied to roughly a quarter of the order, not all of it. Getting that proportion wrong in either direction is either shortchanging the diner or giving away more than the law requires.
What it takes to apply it
In practice: the claim itself (senior or PWD), the cardholder's name and ID number, and how many diners at the table are actually eligible. The amount is worked out from those facts rather than typed in as a number, since a typed figure is exactly where an honest mistake or an inflated discount can slip in.
Internal record, not a BIR report
As with VAT, none of this is submitted anywhere automatically — it's simply computed and recorded correctly on the property's own bill and its own records. There is no BIR accreditation involved and no automatic reporting; anything beyond the bill itself is a conversation between the property and its accountant.
