01

The pressure point in plain terms

The real incumbent in this market is not Cloudbeds. It is a spreadsheet, a notebook at the front desk, and a chat thread — and that combination works well enough that replacing it feels like risk for no reward.

The objection is almost never the price. It is the migration: nobody wants to be the property that loses a booking during the changeover.

01Practical change

What actually moves

Your rooms and room types, your rates for the year, and every current and future reservation. That is the set that has to be right on day one; historical bookings can follow, or stay in the spreadsheet you already have.

Guests and expenses can be brought across too, but neither blocks going live — a property can start taking bookings correctly before its guest history is complete.

02Practical change

Who does it

We do, with you, during onboarding. You send the sheet; we set up the rooms, the rates and the live bookings and show you the calendar with your own reservations on it.

That is not an upsell or a professional-services line. It is the only version of onboarding that works at this size, because the alternative is a busy operator doing data entry after hours.

03Practical change

How long it takes

Setup is seven steps — property, location, facts, rooms, payments, verification, then go live — and each one saves on its own, so you can stop halfway and come back without losing anything.

Most hosts are set up in an afternoon. The part that takes longest is usually the photographs, not the data.

04Practical change

What you keep

Your data stays yours. Export a PDF of any date range whenever you like, and if you ever leave, ask us before your billing period ends and we will export your bookings, guests and financial records for you.

We would rather say that plainly than have it be a question you are afraid to ask.

05Practical change

What not to move, deliberately

Three years of historical bookings, mostly. It is tempting, and it is rarely worth the effort or the risk — the sheet still exists, and every figure you actually need for last year is already in it.

What matters is that the first month in MangoHost is complete and correct. Bring the history later if a reason appears; most properties never find one.

06Practical change

The first week, honestly

Expect double entry for a few days. Most operators keep the sheet open in parallel until they trust the calendar, and that is the right instinct rather than a failure of the migration.

The moment it usually clicks is the first booking someone tries to enter that collides with an existing one, and the system refuses it. That is the thing the spreadsheet could never do, demonstrated on your own data.

07Practical change

The one thing that is genuinely harder

A spreadsheet lets anyone type anything anywhere. A system does not, and for the first week that feels like friction rather than safety — a rate has to exist before a booking can use it, a room has to exist before it can be assigned.

That constraint is the entire value, but it is worth naming, because the fortnight where it feels like an obstacle is real and nobody warns you about it.
