Pickup

Pickup is how many room-nights were added for a future date since you last looked — the rate at which a month is filling.

Worked example

  1. On 1 July, December held 180 room-nights. On 15 July it holds 214.
  2. Pickup for December over that fortnight is 34 room-nights.

Why it matters

A future month's occupancy figure on its own is meaningless without knowing whether it is moving. Forty per cent booked and rising fast needs a different decision from forty per cent and flat.

It is the earliest signal you get that a rate is wrong, and the cheapest one to act on.

Pickup is most useful compared against the same point last year rather than against a target. "Down 20 room-nights on this date last year" is actionable; "40% booked" on its own is not.

In MangoHost

The calendar shows future months as they stand and bookings carry creation dates, so pickup is readable. There is no automatic pickup report yet — this is a place the product could go further, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
