Double-booking
A double-booking is two confirmed reservations for the same room on the same night — one of which you cannot honour.
Worked example
- A room sells twice for the same three nights at ₱3,800.
- You refund one guest ₱11,400 and place them elsewhere at your own cost, say ₱9,000.
- The direct cost is around ₱20,400 — more than a year of the Starter plan — before counting the review.
Why it matters
It is the most expensive administrative mistake a small hotel makes, and the cost is not the refund. It is the review, the walked guest, and the hour someone spends finding them a bed somewhere else.
It almost never happens because someone was careless. It happens because two channels — a Messenger thread and a notebook, say — were not looking at the same availability.
The other cost is trust inside your own team. After one walked guest, staff start double-checking availability by phone before confirming anything, which slows every booking you take from then on.
