Walk-in

A walk-in is a guest who arrives without a reservation and books at the desk.

Worked example

  1. A walk-in takes a ₱3,800 room for two nights: ₱7,600, with no commission.
  2. The same two nights sold through an OTA at 18% commission nets ₱6,232.
  3. The walk-in is worth ₱1,368 more for identical occupancy.

Why it matters

Walk-ins are the highest-margin business most small Philippine properties get — no commission, no channel fee, and often no discount.

They are also the booking most likely to be lost to a slow answer. If the person at the desk cannot price tonight's room without calling the owner, the guest walks to the next place along the beach.

Which is why the rate needs to be answerable at the desk in seconds. Every minute spent finding out what tonight costs is a minute the guest spends deciding to look next door.
