PSGC code

The PSGC — Philippine Standard Geographic Code — is the official numbering of every region, province, city or municipality and barangay in the country.

Worked example

A property in Aninuan is: Region IV-B → Oriental Mindoro → Puerto Galera → Barangay Aninuan.

Typed as one line into a free-text field, none of it is searchable by area.

Why it matters

A Philippine address is a hierarchy, not a line of text. Software that offers a free-text address field and a “state” dropdown cannot represent where your property actually is.

Structured location is also what makes a property findable by area rather than only by name — which is how travellers actually search.

Structured location is also what makes a marketplace listing findable. A traveller searching for somewhere to stay in Puerto Galera is searching a municipality, not a string.
